Updated Planner Organization

I've been thinking a lot about how much more I could organize my planner and make it really work for me. And this is what I've come up with using washi tape, envelopes, labels, and dot stickers.  

- Envelope On sale for $1.99 (6 in package) at Michaels 

-Labels on sale for .99 cents (24 count) I bought 5 packs at Michaels 

-Dot Stickers Target $1.97

- Washi Tape $7.99 used a 30% coupon -$2.40 at Michaels 

Now to get to the Planner Organization 

I used everything pictured here and the pens in my college supply organizer (post is on my blog) 

1. First get a Index card
2. Then I used those blue labels and put Fall/ Summer Codes (the summer one kept smearing so I changed it)

3. I then used the yellow, purple, and green dots
- On them I wrote Test (yellow) Projects (purple) Due Important (green)
4. Taking the Washi Tape I color coded the classes with the tape.
- Pink: EDUC
- Blue: English
-Blue: Hist
-Orange: PLSC
-Purple: English
-Green: Math
-Pink: PSYC
                                                                              I And last taking my sharpie pens I colored under the Washi Tape label with that colored pen (besides purple) that way I can keep my planner color coded with the classes.

So these are the labels I've done, one for my summer class and the other for fall classes.

Then I used double sided tape, and taped them to the front of my planner.
Doing this I can always keep track of the color codes for when I write in my planner.

Then I took the blue envelope and double sided tape and attached this to the front of my planner. I did this to hold my labels and poka dot stickers so I always have them with me.

Something I've decided to do this summer/fall is instead of writing my To Do List on the Friday day (I don't have classes on friday). I'm going to put a post it note with my to do list on it instead.

Once I start using my planner with this new organization codes I will post an update. I'm pretty excited about it and ready to see if I can keep up with it.

College Supply Holder under $20

     Being in college I've done a lot of things to keep my pens, pencils, calculator, and post it notes organized.  My old system was using a clear skinny bag. Using this system everything is organized and in one place. I love it I can take the bag and go. I never leave anything behind. And getting ready to start summer classes I'll be using my desk a lot more and having all my supplies in one spot will come in hand. 

I bought mine at Ulta. There are 3 different kinds! 

Here is an over view of what the bag looks like inside

Then theres a clear bag and a side that holds brushes

And here is everything that came out of the other bag I was using (some I added)

I love this because I can carry everything in it and I never lose anything. It can be big and bluky but if you move stuff around it will all even out (fits in backpack perfectly and a bigger purse)

*Updated: I added a few things when I updated my planner organization

-Poka Dots Stickers  (these aren't the exact things but there right next to it in the store I believe there around $1.97)

- Labels (I found at Michael's on sale for .99 cents) 

I put the circle and labels in the clear pocket, and the note post it. The small post it and tabs I put in the striped bag.  

Craft your way to a Coupon Holder

Coupon Holder: Supplies Felt I used old felt from a school project I believe they're 4 for $1 at Hobby Lobby. 

 Then a ruler, hot glue gun, scissors, ribbon, thread, and a button

I had felt glue but it takes 4 hours to dry so I just used a hot glue gun 

Now to get started I took the big felt piece 

          Then I measured other felt piece half way (to where it folded up) and over layer them then hot glued to make a pocket, I believe I ended up with 7 holders all together. 

Time to get it to close, I took thread and a button (I only used one) sewed it from the back and attached the button. Then I took ribbon and glued it from the back and wrapped it around to loop around the button on the front. 

I even attached a small piece to hold a pen/pencil. 

And now you are done, it took me about an hour to finish it but I did it off a whim. So I hope you like it. 

EXTRA TIPS:

If I made another one I would have went to a craft store and bought a board of some kind and glued the felt to the board to make it stand up better. 

My Two favorite Coupon Holder/ Organizers

My Favorite Ways to Hold Coupons:

Binder Style, Divider Style 

First you need a small binder, I got mine from Wal-Mart for around $5
Tabs at Wal-Mart $5
And a fine point Sharpie

I got these dividers from Wal-Mart around $3 

I also got small paper and hole punched it to write down anything I may need (price book, list of items I need to buy)  

Then I got clear protected covers at Office Depot for around $3. I wrote the category on the clear pockets and then used the tabs.

I put the coupons in the pockets and you have a coupon binder: Small version I believe. My favorite thing about this binder is it fits really well in the shopping cart.

1. A bag of old scrap paper

4. And my binder I got from Wal-Mart $4 

          I take the tabs and trace around them on scrap paper to make them pretty.

How to Stay Organized in College Using a Planner, Calendar, and a To Do List

THIS PLANNER IS FROM WAL-MART I BELIEVE I PAID AROUND $13

I'm an organized person at heart but when I started college I new I'd have to step it up. And that's what I'm going to share with you guys. 

This is the inside, I  LOVE planners that are big because I write everything and the small planners just weren't cutting it anymore. 

Okay to get on to how I organize it.....

1. Organizing Classes 

I write my classes out on each day, then leave a couple lines in between to write what were doing that day or homework assignments 

example...

MONDAY:

Math:

TUESDAY:

Bio:

EDUC:

GEOL:

As shown below, I use to have a color for each class in my old planner but I found that to be a pain so now I use whatever pen/pencil I have in my hand during class.

This is what a full week looks like in my planner A LOT of writing (to me anyways).

2. How I keep it organized with in my planner. 

   I Circle the important stuff such as test, assignments, or meetings

   I also write on the day, that homework was assigned then next to it when its due. 

   And my most favorite, I high light EVERY assignment once it's done. I just started the high lighting        this semester and I love it so much. 

3. The TO DO List   

Another thing I do with assignments is on the Friday day I make a weekend To Do List. I write on the day the assignments due/assigned along with on the To Do list. Then once I finish something I high light it off both places. This just lets me see it in multiple places and I'm a big check stuff off as I go kind of person. 

4. Other Systems   

My calendar and To Do list in my room is another way I keep everything organized. 

The Calendar I bought from Hobby Lobby- if you use a 40% off coupon its $10 :) 

The white board I bought from Wal- Mart, around $5 then decorated it (I have a tutorial how I did it once I post it to my blog I'll link it) 

This system works because I get tired of looking at my planner when I'm at home. That's why once I get home from school I write everything I got assigned that day on my TO DO list. Then I get started on finishing it all. I usually write the day it ALL due really big and that becomes my goal. 

Now I know every person is different in how they stay organized, but this system works very well for me. I've been using this system since I started College, a year and half ago. And have only missed turning in ONE essay. Other then that all my homework is turned in on time.
